Votronic 1715 MPP 250 Duo Digital 15A 12V MPPT solar charge controller for two batteries
MPP solar controller specially designed for use on boats, yachts, etc. The electronics of the MPPT dual charge controller are protected against moisture.
For solar modules with:
- up to 250 Wp module output
- max. 15 A module current
- max. 50 V module voltage
Charging options: 1 supply battery and 1 starter battery
Votronic solar controllers of the "MPP" (Maximum Power Point) series with "IU1oU2" charging characteristic are connected as a link between the solar panel(s) and battery(ies).
With MPP technology, the controller automatically determines the maximum power output (MPP) of the solar modules several times per second. It then transforms the excess voltage of the solar module into a higher charging current for the battery (realized by high-frequency switching regulator technology with high efficiency). This additional charging current ensures shorter charging times and the best possible power utilization of the solar system.
MPP solar controllers work fully automatically, are maintenance-free and offer the following functions:
- MPP charging current increase of 10 % to 30 % (efficiency > 95 %) compared to conventional controllers thanks to the use of state-of-the-art controller technology (microprocessor). The increase in performance is particularly noticeable at cooler times of the year and e.g. during high fog conditions, low and diffuse lighting (wintering).
- Switchable charging characteristics for optimum charging of gel/dryfit, AGM/non-woven or acid/wet and LiFePO4 batteries (see Table 1).
- The charging voltage is free of peaks and regulated in such a way that overcharging of batteries is ruled out.
- Two battery charging outputs:Automatic charging of the main or on-board battery (Board I).Support charging and charge retention (max. 1 A) of the vehicle starter battery (Start II) with protection against overcharging.
- Monitoring-free charging:Standard protection against overload, overheating, reverse polarity and reverse battery discharge (if solar power is too low, e.g. at dusk, at night, etc.).
- Parallel/buffer operation:Maintains charging characteristics even when loads are operated simultaneously.
- Overcharge protection: Regulates the charging current of the battery back if there is too much solar power and the battery is full, ensures that the battery is charged to the highest possible level by immediately recharging when power is consumed.
- "IU1oU2" charging characteristic: Defined charging voltage increase (U1) prevents harmful acid stratification and ensures equalization charging of the individual battery cells, followed by automatic trickle charging (U2).
- Charging cable compensation: Voltage losses on the charging cables are automatically compensated for.
- On-board power supply filter: Problem-free parallel operation with wind and petrol generators, mains chargers, alternators, etc.
- Measurement output for EBL (electric block of the vehicle): Enables convenient use of the (solar) current display built into the electrical block to check the solar system.
- Switching output "AES" (only MPP250 Duo Dig. and MPP350 Duo Dig): Causes the ELECTROLUX/ DOMETIC refrigerators with "AES" (Automatic Energy Selector) to switch automatically from gas to 12 V operation when there is plenty of excess solar power.
- Connection for temperature sensor (art. no. 2001): Automatic adjustment of the charging voltage to the battery temperature. Improves full charging of the weaker battery in cold weather and prevents unnecessary battery gassing in summer temperatures. Highly recommended if the battery is exposed to strong temperature fluctuations, e.g. in the engine compartment.
- Ready to plug in for connecting the Votronic solar display units for optimum control of the system: LCD Solar Computer S: LCD display with display range: battery voltage, charging current, charging power, stored capacity and energy (V, A, W, Ah, Wh).
