Product information "Victron Cyrix-i 12/24V-400A Intelligent Battery Coupler CYR010400000 (VAT-Free)"

The Victron Cyrix-i 12/24V-400A (MPN CYR010400000) is an advanced battery combiner the prevents unwanted switching during current distribution.

Some battery relays perform separation procedures when there are high currents. It is also possible that a big but empty battery group can't be connected because voltage would fall below the switch-off threshold.
The Cyrix-i's software does not work with voltage values or time intervals. Instead it regards the trend (voltage/time) and only reacts when the trend changes within a certain interval. The time delay is proportional to the trend's voltage deviation.
Additionally up to 4 different switching/time settings can be adjusted.

Important features:

  • constant output: 400A
  • max. peak current (1s): 1000A
  • operation voltage range: 24/48V (auto-adjustment)
  • MPN: CYR010400000

Auto-voltage-range-setting 12/24V and 24/48V
The Cyrix-i recognizes the voltage automatically.

No voltage loss
The Cyrix-i battery control is an alternative to isolation diodes. As there is barely any voltage loss an increase of the charging voltage of alternator or generator is not needed for compensation.

Prioritizing of the starter battery
Normally the alternator is connected directly to the starter battery. The supply battery or thruster battery and others are connected via a Cyrix-i. Only when the starter battery has reached a certain voltage the other batteries are connected for parallel charging.

Bidirectional voltage measurement and power supply
The Cyrix-i measures the voltage values of connected battery groups. It therefore reacts only if the supply battery is charged via a battery charger.
The Cyrix-i has a double power supply. It also works if one of the batteries does not have enough voltage for Cyrix-i operation.

To avoid unwanted switching during installation or after unplugging the battery connector it will not switch when one of the battery connection falls under 2V (12V battery), 4V (24V battery) or 8V (48V battery).

Parallel connection in case of an emergency
The Cyrix-i can also be activated via a button (stays activated for 30s). Additionally there's a button for parallel connection of the batteries. This comes in handy when the starter battery is empty or defective.

Victron Cyrix-Li-Charge 12/24V-230A Charging Relay CYR010230430 (VAT-Free)
The Cyrix-Li-Charge 12/24v-230a battery coupler from victron Energy (mpn cyr010230430) for 12v and 24v LiFePO4 batteries. It can operate with a maximum current of 230a and is, among other things, an ideal complement to the ve.Bus bms as a battery switch for those loads that the ve.Bus bms cannot switch independently. Function of the Cyrix battery coupler in general The victron Cyrix-Li-Load 12/24v-230a is a high performance microprocessor controlled relay that automatically connects batteries in parallel when one of them has reached a preset voltage value (indicating that the battery is charging) and, disconnects the batteries again when the voltage drops below the float voltage value (indicating that one or both batteries are being discharged). Cyrix battery couplers are excellent for replacing isolation diodes. Their main feature is that there is virtually no voltage loss, so there is no need to increase the output voltage of the alternators or battery chargers. Mode of operation of the Cyrix-Li-Charge 12/24v 230a The Cyrix-Li-Charge 12/24v-230a connects a battery charger with a delay time of 3 seconds when the output "Charge Disconnect" of the ve. Bus bms is high andwhen it measures 13.7 v (or 27.4 v or 54.8 v) or more at its battery charger port, andwhen it measures 2 v or more at its battery connector (the Cyrix remains open when not connected to the battery) The Cyrix-Li-Charge will shut down immediately when its control output reaches a "free floating" (open circuit) condition, indicates a cell overvoltage, or indicates a cell overtemperature. Generally, a cell overvoltage alarm will reset shortly after charging stops. The Cyrix then reconnects the charger. After two attempts to reconnect the unit at 3-second intervals, this delay time is extended to 10 minutes. Whenever the battery voltage is below 13.5 v (or 27 v or 54 v), the Cyrix switches off with a delay time of 1 hour. Note 1: If the discharge current is 0 or if there is very little discharge current, the Cyrix will not shut down shortly after the charger is turned off and/or disconnected because the battery voltage remains above the 13.5 v value. Note 2: If the output of the battery charger, after the Cyrix has switched off, immediately rises again to 13.7 v or more, the Cyrix switches on again with a delay time of 3 seconds. important technical features Manufacturer part number: cyr010230430Continuous current and cut-off current: 230afor 12v and 24v battery voltage Cyrix-Li-Charge as a perfect complement to the ve.Bus bms A central core of protection for victron LiFePO4 batteries is the ve.Bus bms. The Victron Cyrix-ct 12/24V-230A  battery combiner (MPN CYR010230010R) is a high-performing microprocessing-controlled relay that automatically switches batteries parallely when a certain predefined voltage is reached (which shows that the battery is charged). It separates the batteries when voltage falls below the trickle charge value (which shows that one of the batteries is discharged). Cyrix battery combiners are an ideal replacement for common isolators. Sometimes a battery coupler will not couple a large but discharged battery bank because the DC voltage immediately drops below the disconnect threshold after the batteries are connected. The Cyrix-ct 12/24 software performs more functions than simply connecting and disconnecting based on the battery voltage and with a set time delay. The Cyrix-ct 12/24 observes the general trend (voltage increases or decreases) and only reverses a previous action if a trend has reversed during a certain period of time. The time delay depends on the extent to which the voltage deviates from the trend.(For battery couplers with multiple connection/disconnection profiles, please refer to the Cyrix-i 400).Long bolts so that more than one power cable can be connectedCyrix 12/24-120: 13 mm (M6) Cyrix 12/24-230: 16 mm (M8)LED status indicatorLED status indicator (Cyrix 12/24 230 only)LED on: coupled LED lights up for 10 s: decoupledLED lights up for 2 s: being connected LED flashes every 2 s: being disconnectedLED flashes every 0.25 s: alarm (overheating; voltage > 16 V; both batteries < 10 V; one battery < 2 V) (multiply by a factor of 2 for 24 V)Cyrix battery couplers are ideal for replacing isolating diodes. The auxiliary battery and possibly also a bow thruster and other batteries are each connected to the starter battery via Cyrix battery couplers. When a Cyrix detects that the starter battery has reached the connection voltage, it closes to allow parallel charging of the other batteries.Voltage detection in both directions and power supply from both batteriesThe Cyrix measures the voltage of both connected batteries. It therefore also switches on if, for example, the additional battery is being charged by a battery charger. The Cyrix-ct 12/24 has a dual power supply. It therefore also closes if the voltage on one of the batteries is too low to operate the Cyrix. To prevent unintentional operation during installation or if one of the batteries has been disconnected, the Cyrix-ct 12/24 will not close if the voltage at one of the two battery connections is below 2 V (12 V battery) or 4 V (24 V battery).Parallel connection for emergencies (Start Assist)The Cyrix can also be switched on via a push button (Cyrix remains in operation for 30 seconds) or via a switch to connect the batteries in parallel by hand. This is particularly useful in an emergency if the starter battery is discharged or damaged.Scope of delivery:1x Victron CYR010120011R Cyrix-ct 12/24V-120A battery coupler1x instruction manual
