Note on the disposal of used batteries

The following notice is aimed at those who use batteries or products with built-in batteries and no longer resell them in the form in which they were supplied (end users):

1. take back used batteries free of charge Batteries must not be disposed of with household waste. You are legally obliged to return used batteries so that proper disposal can be ensured. You can take used batteries to a municipal collection point or to your local retailer. As a distributor of batteries, we are also obliged to take back used batteries, although our take-back obligation is limited to used batteries of the type that we carry or have carried as new batteries in our range. You can therefore either return used batteries of the aforementioned type to us with sufficient postage (wet batteries are hazardous goods) or hand them in free of charge at the following address:

Address:

Battron GmbH
Zenettistraße 7
80337 Munich

2 Meaning of the battery symbols

Batteries are marked with the symbol of a crossed-out dustbin. This symbol indicates that batteries must not be disposed of with household waste. For batteries that contain more than 0.0005% mercury by mass, more than 0.002% cadmium by mass or more than 0.004% lead by mass, the chemical name of the pollutant used is located under the dustbin symbol - "Cd" stands for cadmium, "Pb" for lead and "Hg" for mercury."

Important note on: Lithium batteries and battery packs

Lithium batteries and battery packs may only be returned to us in a discharged state or placed in the waste battery collection containers at retailers and public waste disposal authorities. If batteries are not fully discharged, precautions must be taken against short circuits.

Definition: "Lithium batteries" are lithium primary batteries that can be discharged once; "battery packs" also include accumulators of the lead, nickel-cadmium, nickel-metal hydride and lithium systems.

The "fully discharged" state is given when the usual end of use (e.g. switching off the device when the final discharge voltage is reached or the onset of functional impairments due to insufficient battery capacity) is reached. To prevent a short circuit, the terminals must be insulated with adhesive tape.

Information on the battery deposit

According to §10 BattG, every seller is obliged to charge a deposit of €7.50 incl. VAT for starter batteries if no old battery is returned when a new battery is purchased.

You can dispose of your old battery free of charge with us, or alternatively at the recycling centers of your city or municipality.

We offer 2 options for reimbursement of the deposit value:

  • If you return your old battery to our sales outlet
  • You send the used battery (please observe the dangerous goods regulations!) together with a copy of our sales invoice with sufficient postage to the address given in the legal notice

Electrical and Electronic Equipment Act

ElektroG - Law on the placing on the market, return and environmentally sound disposal of electrical and electronic equipment

In accordance with European regulations [DIRECTIVE 2002/96/EC OF THE EUROPEAN PARLIAMENT AND OF THE COUNCIL of January 27, 2003 on waste electrical and electronic equipment], used electrical and electronic equipment may no longer be disposed of as unsorted municipal waste.

They must be collected separately. The wheeled garbage can symbol indicates the need for separate collection. - You too can help to protect the environment and ensure that this appliance is disposed of in the separate collection systems provided for this purpose when you no longer wish to use it.

Improper disposal of old electrical appliances endangers people and the environment! Electrical appliances consist of many different substances, including valuable raw materials such as copper or aluminum, but also substances that are hazardous to the environment and health such as cadmium, lead, mercury and flame retardants containing polybromine. The Electrical and Electronic Equipment Act severely restricts the use of these substances in new appliances. However, it is still not possible to dispense with their use in some components, which means that old appliances often still contain considerable quantities of harmful substances.

In Germany, you are legally obliged [Act on the Sale, Return and Environmentally Sound Disposal of Electrical and Electronic Equipment (Electrical and Electronic Equipment Act - ElektroG) of March 16, 2005] to dispose of old equipment separately from unsorted municipal waste.

The public waste disposal authorities (municipalities) have set up collection points for this purpose, where old appliances from private households in their area can be collected free of charge. The legal waste disposal authorities may also collect the old appliances from private households. - Please check your local waste calendar or contact your city or municipal administration to find out about the options for returning or collecting old appliances in your area.
